Catherine Howland

MS/HS Science Teacher

Catherine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University. She worked for several years at the precursor to the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation on recycling and composting projects, and then she practiced reusing and recycling God’s natural resources by owning and operating a consignment shop called Second Thoughts in Norton, and later in Attleboro.

She was blessed with having two daughters, and as her girls were attending a Christian school in Norton (originally New Testament Christian School and later Legacy Christian Academy), she began substituting. Eventually, God called her to teach Science and Math in that Christian school! She taught there for 11 years, and served as principal for one. Then she got a call from the previous DCA principal, and was hired at Dayspring Christian Academy/Liberty Christian High School; she has now taught here for two years!

Catherine lives in Norton with her family, and her two adult daughters graduated from Christian schools and then Christian colleges (Montreat College in NC and Gordon College in MA). She and her husband love hosting a fellowship and Bible study in their home each week, and her dog and one of their two cats love to join! She loves photography, animals, going to the beach on Cape Cod, and listening to contemporary Christian music.
