Philip Ackland
Principal
Mr. Ackland comes to Dayspring with a varied background in education and ministry. The two veins have run concurrently as most of the ministry has been bi-vocational. He has 18 years classroom experience (two in a Christian School, the rest, public), an M.S.Ed in Educational Administration and an M.A. in Curriculum & Development with a focus on STEM. He has been a lead pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, and children’s pastor at various times and churches throughout his adult life.
Phil also loves leading a small group Bible study in his home with his wife, Merrit who most certainly has the gift of hospitality (she’s a wonderful cook!). Along with his wife, he has four adult sons, three lovely daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren, and two chihuahuas. He has lived in Illinois nearly all of his life, but is excited to begin this new adventure on the East coast.
Prior to beginning his career in education, he ran his own residential general contracting business, making building things and remodeling the closest thing he has to a hobby.
